This tiny island nation is only two thirds the size of the Isle of Wight. However, the surrounding sea, the island’s exclusive economic zone, is seven times larger than that of New Zealand. The islands lie between the Tonga and Samoa Islands to the west and the Society Islands to the east, in the centre of the Polynesian Triangle.
